Home Medical Equipment (HME) also referred to as durable medical equipment (DME) is any equipment that provides therapeutic benefits or enables the person to perform certain tasks that he or she is unable to undertake otherwise due to certain medical conditions and/or illnesses. Home Medical Equipment includes equipment such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, traction equipment, canes, crutches, walkers, oxygen and other medically needed items. HME is considered to be equipment which can withstand repeated use and is primarily and customarily used to serve a medical purpose. It is generally not useful to a person in the absence of an illness or injury and is appropriate for use in the home.

Supplies are medically necessary medical or surgical items that are consumable, expendable, disposable or non-durable and appropriate for use in the recipient’s home.

Central Medical Equipment Rentals Inc. specializes in a broad range of oxygen, respiratory and home medical equipment and supplies. Professionally trained staff is committed to providing quality services to achieve the goals of prompt delivery and satisfaction. Our patient education programs place an emphasis on safety and effective use of medical equipment. Our trained distribution staff delivers the equipment, sets it up for safe and easy use and we also provide service or maintenance when required.

Ambulatory Equipment and Mechanisms

  • Canes - Different materials available, single, three or four prong. Adjustable or fixed with tips supplies and related accessories
  • Crutches - Forearm, underarm supplies and materials available
  • Lift Mechanisms- Electric and manual systems available with sling or seat accessories
  • Scooters - Different styles available Power operated vehicles (POV) include all options and accessories that are provided at the time of initial issue, including but not limited to batteries, battery chargers, seating systems, etc.

Bathroom Safety Devices

  • Bath and shower benches - Different models available to provide comfort and make bathing easier.
  • Bathroom Safety Devices - These items provide security and safety in the bathroom.
  • Elevated Toilet Seat - This safety item sits on the rim of a toilet, making it easier for users, to get on and off the toilet.
  • Tub transfer chair - Different models offer easy transfer from a wheelchair to a tub. A portion of the bench, which has a back and four adjustable legs, is outside of the tub and the other portion is set inside.

Phototherapy systems

  • Biliblankets - Blanket or wrap with a built-in light source that allows the baby to be held by a parent or other caregiver during treatment
  • Bililight - Device containing special fluorescent light bulbs to treat hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice) in newborns.
